Hello, does anyone have first-hand experience with the removable Wenonah solo portage yoke that attaches on the railing of the adjustable seat?

https://wenonah.com/Items.aspx?id=59

I have a Wenonah Voyager solo canoe and am trying to figure out my best option for portaging it...

Thanks!

I had one for a Wenonah Prism and felt it was to far a reach to the gunwales. I prefer the wood clamp on yokes with the foam blocked on it. If you want the canoe to set higher you can always increase the height of the blocks. Also the Wenonah yoke is ridiculously expensive. I bought mine used and it was still double the price of a wooden yoke.

I wasn't happy with the Wenonah raised yoke for the same reasons as Carl. The gunnel clamp one works well for me. You need to add a little weight to the bow to counteract having the yoke forward to clear the seat, not much I usually have a throw rope tucked in under the foot brace

I have a different removable yoke on my Prism. It attaches with cotter pins that pop in & out. It was included with the purchase, so not sure where it might have come from. Works pretty well and I think sits a little better than the Wenonah branded model.

I have the same yoke on my Advantage. Experienced the Wenonah model after one of the tabs broke on the "cotter pin yoke". Had the Wenonah yoke (Chosen Valley is the manufacturer) replaced twice in two years due to failure/defects. Hated it when it worked. I eventually found the guy that bought the parts from the "cotter pin yoke" manufacturer (Hidden River I think) and went back to that yoke.

I disliked the attachment of the Chosen Valley yoke (tended to shift) and absolutely loathe sling pads.

When I use the Hidden River yoke I leave the cotter pins in place and just flex the hull to attach the yoke (sling pads were temporary).

I've used all the above mentioned yokes on my various Advantages that I've owned. I settled on the clamp to the gunwales yoke. The Wenonah clamp to the pedestal was too high and the Hidden Valley cotton p.in was a pain

A pain if you pul the pins. If you just flex the hull it's about the quickest system I've used.
