I found this video interesting as not many ice fisherman set up this shallow, and also one winter, I caught a nice pike with three slugs in it's stomach and I thought this fish had to be shoveling that big lower jaw in the mud/clay/soil of the lake to eat these slugs ,

tired to find the video on youtube but couldn't ,
basically these guys , i think Russian? are ice fishing extremely shallow , right next to the bullrushes , looked like 2' of water , they had to use flexible gaffs to get the pike up out of the weeds that were away from the hole . i generally fish shallow in the winter and even kind of close to bullrushes but these guys set up right in the muck of it , might have even been a foot of water from the bottom of the ice to the mud/dirt/soil.
