Mississippi River SMB fishing near Twin cities

Anyone have any tips for trying out some SMB on the Mississippi? Was going to try it out up by Elk River north of Minneapolis. Have heard good things, but never been able to make it happen. Appreciate any tips!

Whopper ploppers, super spooks are good for topwater. Worn on a spinner rig are good if you are slowly drifting.

Clear Water Outfitters is located in Clearwater Mn northwest of Minneapolis. They can rent you a kayak and shuttle you back to your car for a reasonable price. Awesome SMB fishing there. Just something to think about.
