Hi there,

We are going to camp on Pipestone Bay over Labor Day weekend, and am wondering if it would be worth portaging over to Back Bay for a day of fishing. I've heard that there are some nice pike in Back Bay, but don't know if it is easier fished in the spring as it appears to be pretty shallow, except for the northern most portion which bottoms out around 30ft. Don't know if it would be worth trying for walleyes and SMB or if concentrating on pike would be a better idea.

Thanks!

If I was fishing for big pike in that area, I would try the narrows going into Hoist Bay. If in that area I would also try Wind Bay and its entrance.
Also, on the Pipestone side Lewis narrows. In Jackfish Bay try around the islands on the west end. My bait would be jumbo suckers.
