Planning my first solo trip. I am looking at entering off round and heading to either Tuscarora, Gillis, or Little Sag for 3-4 nights of base-camping and fishing. I haven't been to any of these lakes before. What would be your recommendations on a target lake and why? Fishing potential is most important, but accessibility, campsite availability, areas to stay out of the wind, and general fun-ness all are valuable considerations. Thanks.

LT fishing would be best on Gillis.

When are you going? All of these are lake trout/ pike lakes. Depending on when you go you'll need to fish deep for lakers unless you're going in September or later. Agree Gillis is stuffed with lakers and is a gorgeous lake. We had a good time on Crooked between Tusc and Gillis in May. We caught our biggest trout on Crooked (a couple 22 inchers) but caught more on Gillis although smaller, in the 14-18 range. I thought Crooked was a fun lake due to its twists and turns. Some nice campsites too.
