Very cool write up and the pics added a lot to the story. It will be interesting to see who out of the group decides to do it again. Pretty sure you will. Your smile says it all.

I have a question about electronics. There was no mention of them but were there phones with music and games being played? I only ask because that is my experience when taking young people up there. Any Instagram or facebook withdrawals? :)

I enjoyed your trip report and pictures. You did well leading a group with some first-time campers. Perspectives indicate a varied, but good experience.

Really enjoyed the trip report. Did the same route but in opposite direction last July.

Thanks for sharing, John

Nice report, sounds like you all had a good time.

May the rivers be crooked and winding, and your portages lonesome, leading to the most amazing view.

Great report. I was impressed to see everyone wearing PFD's (most of the time). How did you feel about being the planner? On your next trip would you want to be the planner or just go along for the ride?

Nice write up! Enjoyed your pictures - it was fun checking out candid shots as opposed to posed photos.

Very cool report. Especially enjoyed the individual comments from each at the report end.

No phones or music were brought up for the trip. Was a way to disconnect from social media. Everyone was glad that they could unplug for almost a week.

Northwoodsman: "Great report. I was impressed to see everyone wearing PFD's (most of the time). How did you feel about being the planner? On your next trip would you want to be the planner or just go along for the ride?" I loved being the trip planner. I enjoyed the process of researching the route beforehand. I am currently planning the next trip up this summer in the Eastern Region.

Awesome work! I lead a trip of rookies fresh outta college on our first trip almost 20 years ago. Brings back some great memories! I've been back in the BWCA probably approaching 50x since. Some of us from that original trip are planning a trip with our kids now!

My post in the gear forum gets moved to some back alley forum because "it's the more specific forum" and then nobody points out that there's a trip report forum? C'mon mods.

The mods automatically show trip reports and comments in Listening point also. So when someone posts a trip report in the trip report forum it automatically gets shown on the main forum too. This happened maybe 6 months ago. Not sure exactly why.

I think Adam felt that the trip reports deserve more traffic... and they do!

I will paddle eternal, Kevlar and carbon.

Ah yes, I remember you jokers! I was on a solo trip to crooked that same week. I believe I saw you guys about half way between table rock and the pictographs. This was my first ever solo trip to the boundary waters and listening to you guys having a good time laughing and joking as you paddled by really made me miss my fishing buddies. It was an odd moment that I didnt forget the rest of the week. I love solo trips but nothing beats weeks up there with your closest friends.

As a young guy, I understand where you're coming from in reference to electronics and am not offended in any way - hope my response is not viewed as defensive.. I am 27 and have been on 10 total BWCA/Q trips (started age 14). I have never once had any type of eletronics withdrawals. Cultural technological dependence and addiction is very real and has only grown since the time that I first visited the BWCA. Luckily, I have not fallen victim and never plan to..
This topic certainly interests me - most would assume young people would have electronics withdrawals during the BWCA/Q trips.. Maybe many young canoers/adventurers came from families who do not stress technology usage in their every day lives/routines. When technology is not a big part of your life, it's so much easier to not give it a second thought if you have to go without it.

I can't say I would've recommended this trip for first timers but I commend you gentlemen for gitten er done. Hopefully they go back - not having live bait is really a killer in the BWCA unless you are a fairly experienced fisherman.

P.s. I loved the campfire photo in day 5. My buddies and I also enjoy a nice...cigar...after a long hard day.

I like a trip report like this with photos interspersed within the narrative. I guess that may partly be because that is the way I do it. :-)

Enjoyed sharing your trip with you, and I agree that the quotes from all of you at the end were neat.
