In 2013 I picked up a Warbonnet Blackbird and Syperfly. I used the cinche buckles the first year then got bit with a little DIY bug and made some Whoopie slings. I picked up a used incubator and now I'm itching to make a top quilt.
Eventually I want to make a hammock, tarp and summer quilt set to take put on light trips.

I'm using a Dream Hammock's Darien UL with Whoopies, Hammock Gear Phoenix 20 deg., Underquilt, Burrow Top Quilt, and Hammock Gear Tarp. Both quilts are 20 degree.
I've been using this setup for the last two seasons and like it quite a lot. Still not as light as my lightest tent setup, but reasonably light, compact, and very comfortable.
If you put something lighter together for summer use, will be interesting to see how much weight and bulk you save and how the comfort compares with your current setup. I'd love to add a lighter summer weight quilts but not sure I'd use them enough to be worth the expense

I use a Jacks R Better Bear Mountain Bridge Hammock. I like the relatively flat lay. I am planning to match it with a neoair pad to have better side to side support. The baffles on my exped are longitudinal and the pad cups my shoulders, the neoair, which has latitudinal baffles, should solve this. My son has a warbonnet that I used 1 night, I like my Jacks better. I do wish it had a storage system of some sort, I liked the warbonnet shelf.
I use a 10x12 CCS siltarp for rain coverage.

If you don't mind me asking...how old are your boys? My 9 year old wants to start hanging with me, but I don't know if I am ready for him to leave the tent yet.
Thanks!

Number 1 is 11 now and he has be hanging for 3 years, number 2 is 7 and this will be his and the wife's second full year of hanging. I should say this is not in the BW. My wife and I will be making our first ever trip to the BW this year. This is our setup for our camping trips in Tennessee.

My equipment has changed as I become more addicted to this type of sleeping. Presently, I use a home made 11 ft. single layer gathered end Hammock. Suspension is homemade whoopee slings and straps. I use a 10X12 CCS tarp during late (cold) season camping and a homemade 8X10 sil-nylon in summer. I have an enlightened equipment 0F top quilt and a 20F full homemade down under quilt (cold) and a 30F set and fleece blanket for warmer weather. I also use a 4 x 5 ground cloth for floor.

Past couple of trips to the BWCA I used my Claytor Mosquito. Swapped out the stock suspension for straps and rings. I absolutely love it. Very durable. I am however, buying a WBBB xlc next week to give it a try and hand my claytor down to my daughter for her trips. Tarps I use are the standard diamond claytor which is more than enough, but just recently purchased 2 Hennessy 70D double wides. Made a continuous ridgeline for both. More coverage for my gear and a backup for whatever might arise. Homemade down underquilt. Using the floor from an old tent as a ground cloth under my hammock to set gear on.
Some people see nature as being made "Just for them", and view others as an invasive species..... We are always hearing about how Social Security is going to run out of money. How come we never hear about Welfare running out of money? What’s interesting is the first group worked for their money .. the second group did not.” WTF???

I hang with a Claytor Mosquito Hammock and tarp and swapped the stock suspension as well. Also use a USGI M66 jungle hammock for day trips. I rigged up this hammock with a USGI mosquito net and USGI poncho as a tarp for my son and this setup has served him well.

Lo-tech long time hanger here.
All my hammocks together cost about the same as a good tarp.
Started with one of those 6 or 7 dollar cheapies back in the late 80's.
One night I decided to sleep in it, best night I ever had up to that point.
It broke after about 8 trips or so, probably slept in it 3 times.
Replaced it with a newer, better cheapie, less than 20 bucks.
Still have that and it has been to Woodland Caribou, Wabakimi, Quetico, and winter camping in BWCA.
Bought an ENO on sale, and frankly, I can't say it is an upgrade.
But I did buy a skeeter net, and a Yukon Outfitter with a skeeter net and it does enable me to sleep out regardless of the bugs.
That's the one thing, up to this point I was limited to fall or early spring.
Now I'm afraid that I'll be sleeping out more, gear inflation will kick in.
Up to this point I'd say I've spent about $125, maybe $150 for my 5 hammocks.

Warbonnet Blackbird XLC - I can't say enough good things. I didn't understand what a footbox was until I got it. It's a generous cut of fabric near your feet which allow you to extend them, and get a better flat lay, or side lay or whatever you want. I think more manufacturers are going to copy this.
Warbonnet Superfly - it's big. Sometimes, space is a little tight out there, and I hope I can make it work in a smallish area if necessary.
Warbonnet Yeti - I have not tested it in cooler temps, but everyone else has and says it's great.
Green Patrol Bag - I think it's a 30 degree rated bag but not sure it is that warm, frankly.
Coleman Poncho - It is rigged to be a Poncho, an underquilt, or a topquilt. It's probably overkill to bring this now that I have the Yeti, but I like the versatility of it and its emergency applications.
