I just happened to look it up, Laurie Ann March -Fork in the Trail is the book I found it in. The first time I did yogurt, I tried cherry vanilla, then added banana granola. It didn't even make it on the trip, nice to have something different.
Here is the recipe...spread yogurt 1/4 thick on lined sheets (I just used canola oil on mine) then sprinkle with your favorite granola. Dehydrate until it is dry and leather-like. Cut into pieces, wrap in plastic, store in the fridge till your trip. Will keep 6 months refrigerated and 6 weeks at room temp. Enjoy!
Another way: buy the Gerber yogurt bites made for toddlers. This is freeze dried yogurt. Blend in a blender until very fine. Rehydrate in camp by adding water and stirring (adding more water as needed) until it is the consistency you'd like.
I guess it's a very different end product than a yogurt-granola leather. But it's still yogurt. :)
