08/26/2022 05:11PM We just returned from a basecamp trip to Mudro. We paddled up to Gull on day 1 and set up camp on the west shoreline near portage to Mudhole. Fishing was good, caught enough walleye for our fish dinners and did well on smallmouths. All on topwater, great fun. We day tripped to Beartrap and caught some walleyes. It was tougher conditions, flat calm and sunny, but nice fish. Overall a great time and not too crowded with lots of options. |

08/25/2022 11:09AM Planning a trip for the second week of August next year and would love some route ideas. Currently a group of four, three of us have been up a few times (though it will have been 13 years since we went together, and 7 since any of us went at all). One rookie. I wouldn't rate us as experts, but pretty comfortable. Four nights. In on Monday, out on Friday. Trip Style - less travel, more of a base camp with possible day trips out and back to base camp. Fishing is a consideration, as we would like to catch enough to eat. Walleye is preferable. Time of year probably isn't perfect, but any areas you'd recommend and associated tactics would be great! Day trips to see falls, pictographs, nice views, etc would be great, too. Considering somewhere near Mudro (fourtown or horse maybe?), with a day trip up to Basswood Falls and the pictographs up that way (if thats doable)? How's the fishing thereabouts? Thank you! |
